Cancer Research Wales has joined forces with the Brecon Carreg Cardiff Bay 10K to help raise vital funds to transform lives of cancer patients across Wales.
The popular race will return to the Welsh capital in the spring of 2024, on a soon to be announced date and with Cancer Research Wales in position as the new lead charity.
The race, which takes runners on a course encompassing all of Cardiff Bay’s most iconic landmarks is suitable for runners of all ages and abilities.
To celebrate the new partnership, runners keen to take part next year and support Cancer Research Wales have the opportunity to take advantage of an exclusive sign-up period. By pre-registering now, they’ll be first to hear when the 2024 date is announced and have the opportunity to secure their space as soon as registration opens.
Matt Newman, Chief Executive of event organisers Run 4 Wales, commented:
“We’re delighted that Cancer Research Wales are becoming the Lead Charity Partner of the Brecon Carreg Cardiff Bay 10K. The event is a firm favourite and is well supported by runners from all over Wales and beyond, so a partnership with a charity raising money that stays in Wales, but has an impact across the world, feels like a natural fit.
“We know too that a healthy lifestyle is known to reduce incidents of cancer, so we’ll be working with Cancer Research Wales to raise awareness of the benefits of running whilst raising funds that will increase cancer survival rates in Wales.”
Dr Lee Campbell, Head of Research at Cancer Research Wales said:
“Cancer Research Wales are really excited to be the lead charity partner for the Brecon Carreg Cardiff Bay 10K. As Wales’ only independent cancer research charity, every penny raised by our incredible supporters stays in Wales – supporting lifesaving and life extending cancer research in Wales and beyond.
“By partnering with Run4Wales and Brecon Carreg on this fun, family-friendly event, we’ll be connecting with people from all walks of life – who we look forward to meeting, running with and supporting over the next three years and well into the future.”
