Get set to run the Brecon Carreg Cardiff Bay 10K

The date has been announced for the Brecon Carreg Cardiff Bay 10K 2024 with a limited number of spaces becoming available ahead of general sale.

Next year’s run through the iconic bay will take place on Sunday 19 May. But while general entry goes on sale next week, the event’s Lead Charity Partner, Cancer Research Wales, is releasing 250 spaces to join their team early.

Cancer Research Wales is dedicated to transforming the lives of cancer patients in Wales. It is also Associate Charity Partner of the Principality Cardiff Half Marathon in October. To celebrate the relationships, the first 50 people to secure their spot as part of Team CRW at the Cardiff Bay 10K will also be able to run for the team at the half marathon for free (saving on the £10 CRW Cardiff Half registration fee), when committing to the fundraising pledges at both events.

Matt Newman, Chief Executive of event organiser Run 4 Wales, said: “The Brecon Carreg Cardiff Bay 10K is a really popular race that takes in the most iconic landmarks.

“It starts and finishes in Roald Dahl Plass and passes the Wales Millennium Centre, Mermaid Quay, the Pierhead Building, Senedd, Porth Teigr and the Cardiff Bay Barrage.

“We’re thrilled to have the support of Brecon Carreg once again and be partnering with Cancer Research Wales. And for those who sign up to join their team of runners and secure their spot in the Cardiff Half, the event acts as a perfect ‘stepping stone’ to work up to the longer distance.”

The route is flat and fast and suitable for all ages and abilities, from elite and club athletes to those looking to keep fit, raise money for charity or take on their first 10K.

Dr Lee Campbell, Head of Research at Cancer Research Wales, said: “We’re really excited to be the lead charity partner for this fun, friendly event and building up a team of incredible fundraisers to take part.

“As Wales’ only independent cancer research charity, every penny raised stays in Wales to support lifesaving and life extending cancer research.”

Brecon Carreg will be the headline sponsor of the event for the sixth year.

Eleri Morgan, Brand Manager at Brecon Carreg, added: “We’re thrilled to be teaming up with the Cardiff Bay 10K once again, helping to keep runners hydrated while also promoting recycling and sustainability with our team of ploggers.”

For runners wanting to take part in several of Run 4 Wales’ 10K races in 2024, they’ll be able to save up to £29 on the cost of race entry with the R4W 10K Series Multi-Buy Offer. Runners entering all four events in the 10K series will save 25%, those who wish to enter three events will save 20% and entering two events will provide a saving of 15%.
